[brave knights and lovely princesses]

Childhood offers so many wonderful things, in my opinion the best of those things is the ability to immerse yourself completely into the world of imagination.

Growing up, there were countless days spent as fair princesses (played out by me and my friend Aubrey) captured in tall towers, guarded by terrifying witches or the wrath of wicked kings, pining away for our brave knights (played by Aubrey's brother David, and our neighbor Jordan) patiently waiting for our knights to slay dragons and fight armies, only to be whisked away into the sunset on their trusty steeds.

Now the two princesses and brave knights are older and have families/children of their own. Last week I had the chance to photograph David and his family before they set off on an adventure of a different sort. Dave and Jess, I wish you loads of luck on your adventures in Arizona and hope you'll return to visit often... I'm sure the sunset you are riding off into is a beautiful one.

[sweet sara]

To my sweet cousin... I am so happy you've found your special someone to spend forever with. Someone you can laugh with, share your joys and sorrows with, someone to grow old with.  Congratulations Miss Sara!

The one thing almost every photographer is guilty of.. not being in enough photographs. We spend so much time feeling comfortable living behind the camera that we don't take the time to step in front of a few pictures ourselves.  The one thing we almost never get is a photograph with us and our children.

Last week I got together with my sweet friend Crystalynn to take a few pictures for her new website she's working on. I am so happy that her children could come along and give the world a glimpse of the sweet mom/photographer that she is. I loved the fact that getting a shot of Crystalynn by herself was almost next to impossible due to how much her children loved her and wanted to be around her. Her personality radiates warmth and love.

Thanks for such a fun evening Crystalynn, hope you love these as much as I do :)

[bless you]

I'd like to introduce everyone to my new little cousin who came as such a surprise and blessing to her sweet little family.  She is indeed an answer to many prayers. An answer to the most patient parents who waited for ten years without giving up hope that they might add to their sweet family, an answer to a big sister who every night prayed that she might have a little sister just like her.  Such a beautiful, happy and expressive baby. So happy I got the chance to finally meet her!

And saving the best for last, a nice big Bless You!

[sunshine in a jar]

Took the little ones out for a dandelion hunt last week. I love the perspective and point of view in which children view the world.  As adults we see fields full of weeds, for children the fields are viewed as vast wonderlands full of beautiful golden flowers... perhaps even MAGICAL golden flowers. These flowers have special abilities, abilities to grant countless wishes to those with the childlike attributes allowing them to believe. Last week after taking a few pictures to document our adventures I put the camera down, gathered a little jar of sunshine and made a few wishes of my own. If you haven't done so lately, give it a try~ a refreshing experience that certainly won't disappoint.
